Regular Season Round 7: Gelisim - Final Genclik 71-66

Rather predictable result when twelfth ranked Gelisim (3-4) won against 16th ranked Final Genclik (1-6) in Izmir 71-66 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Final Genclik was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Quite impressive performance for American point guard Kendall Anthony (173-93, college: Richmond) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 4 assists. Point guard Emir Gokalp (185-95) contributed with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Gelisim's coach Arda Vekiloglu used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Justin Knox (205-89, college: N.Carolina, agency: Two Points) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Demarius Bolds (193-84, college: Missouri Western) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Final Genclik. Gelisim moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Pertevniyal and Meliksah. Final Genclik lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fifteenth position with six games lost. Gelisim will face Afyon (#13) in Afyonkarahisar in the next round. Final Genclik will play at home against Adanaspor and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
