Regular Season Round 12: Telsiai - Zalgiris II 49-70

The game in Telsiu supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Zalgiris II (8-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Telsiai (6-6). Zalgiris II smashed Telsiai 70-49 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-49. Zalgiris II outrebounded Telsiai 46-19 including a 31-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was power forward Martynas Echodas (204-97) who scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Martynas Varnas (196-97) chipped in 15 points. Four Zalgiris II players scored in double figures. Zalgiris II's coach Tomas Masiulis felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Ovidijus Kaminskas (195-91) who recorded 11 points and 5 rebounds and center Nerijus Barauskas (207-92) added 14 points respectively. Zalgiris II have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 8-4 record. Telsiai lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with Perlas-MRU. Zalgiris II will meet at home Nafta-Uni. (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Telsiai will play against the league's second-placed Palanga and hope to secure a win.
