Regular Season Round 8: Gaz Metan - Steaua CSM 75-93

The game with biggest result difference took place in Medias. Local Gaz Metan (1-7) lost to third ranked Steaua CSM (5-1) 93-75. The game was mostly controlled by Steaua CSM. Gaz Metan was better in third quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Steaua CSM especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American Bill Amis (206-87, college: Hawaii) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Finnish-American center Gerald Lee (208-87, college: ODU) contributed with 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. Lithuanian center Robertas Grabauskas (208-90, college: Northwood) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and Lithuanian point guard Gediminas Navickas (180-84) added 14 points, 6 assists and 6 steals in the effort for Gaz Metan. Five Steaua CSM and four Gaz Metan players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Steaua CSM have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Gaz Metan lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with seven games lost. They share the position with BC Timisoara. Steaua CSM will play against Pitesti (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gaz Metan will play against CSU Sibiu (#5) to get more than just one victory in their record.
