Regular Season Round 5: Istanbul Univ. - Yakin Dogu 70-71

A very close game took place in Istanbul between Yakin Dogu and Istanbul Uni. Seventh ranked Yakin Dogu (3-2) got a very close victory on the road over 4th placed Istanbul Uni (3-2). Yakin Dogu managed to escape with a 1-point win 71-70 in the game for the fourth place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Istanbul Uni won fourth quarter 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Alyssa Thomas (188-92, college: Maryland) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and center Kelsey Bone (193-91, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four Yakin Dogu players scored in double figures. Yakin Dogu's coach Alper Durur used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. point guard Tan White (170-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Elizabeth Williams (190-93, college: Duke) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Yakin Dogu moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Istanbul Uni. Yakin Dogu will meet at home Adana ASKI (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbul Uni will play against Botas (#13) in Adana and hope to secure a win.
