Regular Season Round 5: Kharkiv - Halychyna 73-87

Date: November 20, 2015
The biggest surprise of round 5 in Superleague was guest Halychyna's (3-1) road victory over Kharkiv (#5) 87-73 on Friday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Halychyna. Kharkiv managed to win fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Halychyna dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Kharkiv's 32. They outrebounded Kharkiv 34-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. Halychyna looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Volodymyr Gurtovyy (207-75) who scored 22 points and 5 assists. American guard Larry Hall (190-83, college: W.Oregon) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Halychyna players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Rostyslav Kryvych (197-78) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Pavlo Tsiopych (180-86) added 17 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Halychyna moved-up to second place. Kharkiv at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with BK Kremen. Halychyna are looking forward to face BK Kremen (#4) in Kremenchuk in the next round. Kharkiv will play at home against Hoverla and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
