Regular Season Round 13: Zalgiris II - Nafta-Uni. 81-83

A very interesting game took place in Kaunas. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 4th placed Zalgiris II (8-5) to tenth ranked Nafta-Uni. (6-7) 83-81 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zalgiris II. Zalgiris II was ahead by 6 points after three quarters before a 24-16 charge of Nafta-Uni., which allowed them to win the game. They made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Zalgiris II helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Rytis Biliartas (200-91) nailed 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Mindaugas Stasys (180-86) accounted for 12 points and 9 assists. Center Martynas Sajus (207-96) came up with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Paulius Valinskas (190-95) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for Zalgiris II in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Zalgiris II's coach Tomas Masiulis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nafta-Uni. moved-up to ninth place. Zalgiris II at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Nafta-Uni. will have a break next round. Zalgiris II will play again on the road against Nafta-Uni. (#9) in Klaipeda and hope to win that game.
