Regular Season Round 8: Stevnsgade - Aabyhoj 66-58
Date: November 21, 2015
The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Stevnsgade as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Lemvig) loss. Stevnsgade defeated bottom-ranked Aabyhoj at home 66-58. It looked good early as Aabyhoj took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Stevnsgade had a 21-12 second period charge getting the lead and Aabyhoj was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 58-66. Stevnsgade forced 25 Aabyhoj turnovers. Aabyhoj was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by international guard Ida Pretzmann (178-90, college: TCU) who scored that evening 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and international guard Hanna Sheikh (180-92) supported her with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Even 24 points and 7 rebounds by swingman Enna Pehadzic (178-97) did not help to save the game for Aabyhoj. Power forward Caroline Wich (185-96) added 5 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Aabyhoj's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Virum. Aabyhoj at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Aabyhoj will play next round against Amager trying to get back on the winning streak. Stevnsgade will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
