Regular Season Round 7: Trabzonspor - Istanbul BSB 87-65
Date: November 21, 2015
There was a small surprise when sixteenth ranked Trabzonspor (2-5) outscored at home bottom-ranked Istanbul BSB (1-5) 87-65 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Trabzonspor made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Istanbul BSB turnovers. Istanbul BSB was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American point guard Darius Johnson-Odom (187-89, college: Marquette, agency: Beo Basket) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 6 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). American-Congolese point guard Dwight Hardy (188-87, college: St.John's) helped adding 20 points. At the losing side Swedish-Croatian power forward Damir Markota (209-85, agency: XL Basketball Agency) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Ugur Dokuyan (197-93, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trabzonspor moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with TED Kolejliler. Istanbul BSB at the other side dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Trabzonspor will face higher ranked Yesilgiresun (#9) in Giresun in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Istanbul BSB will play at home against Anadolu Efes (#4) having rather not much hope for a victory.
