Regular Season Round 8: Socar Petkim - Tofas 70-81

Very expected game when 7th ranked Socar Petkim (4-4) was defeated at home by top-ranked Tofas (8-0) 81-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Tofas. Socar Petkim was better in fourth quarter 22-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 28-of-31 free shots (90.3 percent) during the game. Tofas forced 19 Socar Petkim turnovers. Socar Petkim was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Bulgarian power forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international power forward Kaya Peker (207-80, agency: Court Side) who added 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Forward Serkan Ozver (206-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and forward Can Terzioglu (196-86) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Four Socar Petkim players scored in double figures. Socar Petkim's coach Sahin Atesdagli rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tofas have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Acibadem Uni. Socar Petkim lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. Tofas will face league's leader Acibadem Uni. in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Socar Petkim will play on the road against Afyon (#13) in Afyonkarahisar and hope to win that game.
