Regular Season Round 8: Balikesir - Denizli 70-76

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Denizli and 8th ranked Balikesir had identical 4-3 record. But Balikesir was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Denizli 76-70 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 25-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Balikesir was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Kenny Boynton (188-91, college: Florida) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 7 assists and center Sercan Ergin (197-83) who added 18 points during the contest. American point guard D.J. Thompson (173-85, college: Appalachian St.) responded with 20 points and forward Tufan Onen (202-89) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Denizli have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sakarya BSB and Akhisar Bld. Balikesir at the other side keeps the eighth position with four games lost. Denizli will face Final Genclik (#15) in Bursa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Balikesir will play on the road against Istanbul DSI (#18) and hope to win that game.
