Regular Season Round 9: Recklinghausen - Hertener Loewen 82-93

Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Hertener Loewen (4-5) won against on the road 12th ranked Recklinghausen (1-8) 93-82 on Saturday. Recklinghausen was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Deandre Lansdowne (187-89, college: Fort Lewis) who led his team to a victory with 30 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import power forward Brandon Griffin (202-82, college: SE Missouri St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. American guard Cavel Witter (183-87, college: Creighton) answered with 26 points and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and naturalized American forward Dorian McDaniel (198-87, college: Prairie View A&M) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Recklinghausen. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Recklinghausen's coach Florian Gut tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hertener Loewen moved-up to eighth place in North, which they share with Schwelm and Stahnsdorf. Recklinghausen lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with eight games lost. Hertener Loewen will face league's leader Herzoege Wolfenbuettel at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Recklinghausen will play against AstroStars (#3) in Bochum and hope to win that game.
