Regular Season Round 8: Sakarya BSB - Istanbul DSI 76-81

There was a surprise result in Sakaraya where eighteenth ranked Istanbul DSI (1-7) defeated higher ranked Sakarya BSB (5-3) 81-76 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Istanbul DSI forced 20 Sakarya BSB turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Derek Williams (185-85, college: SMU) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 4 assists and guard Omer Sancakli (195-92, agency: 1x1 Sports) who added 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Istanbul DSI players scored in double figures. American point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) responded with 24 points and 5 steals and forward Caner Ercan (205-86) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Istanbul DSI left bottom position moving up to sixteenth place, which they share with Bandirma Kir. and Adanaspor. Sakarya BSB at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Istanbul DSI will face higher ranked Balikesir (#9) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sakarya BSB will play against Pertevniyal (#8) in Istanbul and hope to win that game.
