Regular Season Round 9: Speyer - Rhein MB 65-72

Date: November 22, 2015
There was a surprise result in Dudenhofen where seventh ranked Rhein Main Baskets (4-3) won against second-best Speyer / Schifferstadt (6-3) 72-65 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 34-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Speyer / Schifferstadt outrebounded Rhein Main Baskets 41-24 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Chelsea Small (185, college: Indiana St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Bosnian power forward Anja Stupar (180-89) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Four Rhein Main Baskets players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Jennifer Mocanu (172-90) with 25 points and 7 assists and forward Martina Kraus (186-90) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Speyer / Schifferstadt's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rhein Main Baskets maintains seventh place in South with 4-3 record. Speyer / Schifferstadt at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Rhein Main Baskets will face Karlsruhe PS (#12) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Speyer / Schifferstadt will play against Weiterstadt (#8) and hope to win that game.
