Regular Season Round 7: Anadolu Efes - Turk Telekom 87-77

Not a big story in a game in Istanbul where 15th ranked Turk Telekom (1-5) was defeated by eighth ranked Anadolu Efes (4-2) 87-77 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Anadolu Efes. Turk Telekom was better in second period 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Turk Telekom 38-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. Anadolu Efes looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Turk Telekom was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for international Furkan Korkmaz (197-97) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points. French point guard Thomas Heurtel (189-89, agency: Beo Basket) helped adding 9 points and 13 assists. At the losing side American guard Michael Jenkins (193-86, college: Winthrop) responded with 21 points and the former international center Ermal Kuqo (208-80, agency: Beo Basket) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Anadolu Efes moved-up to fourth place. Turk Telekom at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with five games lost. Anadolu Efes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Istanbul BSB.
