Regular Season Round 9: Akhisar Bld - Mamak DSI 83-87

We should mention about the upset which took place in Akhisar, where higher ranked Akhisar Bld (5-4) lost at home to thirteenth ranked Mamak DSI (4-5) 83-87 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-83. Mamak DSI made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Jason Clark (188-90, college: Georgetown) stepped up and scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and point guard Ali Kavaklioglu (186-86) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was center Hakan Yapar (202-84) with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard K.T. Harrell (193-92, college: Auburn) scored 21 points. Five Mamak DSI and four Akhisar Bld players scored in double figures. Akhisar Bld's coach Zafer Aktas tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mamak DSI moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Akhisar Bld lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Balikesir. Mamak DSI will meet at home Bandirma Kir. (#15) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Akhisar Bld will play against Gediz (#3) and hope to secure a win.
