Regular Season Round 8: Levski 2014 - Balkan 59-65

Date: November 27, 2015
The game in Sofia was also quite interesting. Second ranked Balkan (6-2) played at the court of 7th ranked Levski 2014 (2-6). Balkan managed to secure a 6-point victory 65-59 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-15. But Levski 2014 won second period 12-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Levski 2014 56-36 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Serbian power forward Dusan Cvetkovic (205-89, agency: Beo Basket) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Brandon Fortenberry (190-90, college: SE Louisiana, agency: Beo Basket) supported him with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Balkan's coach Vlada Vukoicic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 14 points and 8 rebounds by forward Aleks Simeonov (200-93) did not help to save the game for Levski 2014. The former international center Krum Doychinov (206-86, agency: Interperformances) added 6 points and 12 rebounds for the hosts. Balkan maintains second position with 6-2 record having just two points less than leader Lukoil Acad. Loser Levski 2014 keeps the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with Akademik PL. Balkan will meet at home Academik Plovdiv (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Levski 2014 will play against Yambol and hope to secure a win.
