Regular Season Round 16: Ezerunas-Karys - Zalgiris II 73-69

We should mention about the upset which took place in Moletai, where higher ranked Zalgiris II (8-8) lost to twelfth ranked Ezerunas-Karys (6-10) in a road game 69-73 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Zalgiris II won third quarter 20-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Ezerunas-Karys won last quarter 18-15. They made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Raimundas Ambrulaitis (200-82) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Evaldas Rastenis (184-89) who added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Ezerunas-Karys players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Regimantas Miniotas (206-96) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Martynas Varnas (196-97) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Ezerunas-Karys moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Silute. Zalgiris II lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Telsiai. Ezerunas-Karys will meet at home bottom-ranked Lietkabelis-2 (#14) in the next round. Zalgiris II will play against Palanga (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.
