Regular Season Round 10: Phoenix Hagen - EWE Baskets 76-74

Date: November 28, 2015
A very interesting game took place in Hagen. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked EWE Baskets (14-5) to thirteenth ranked Phoenix Hagen (7-12) 76-74 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of EWE Baskets. EWE Baskets were ahead by 10 points after three quarters before a 25-13 charge of Phoenix Hagen, which allowed them to win the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian power forward Owen Klassen (208-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. American point guard David Bell (187-81, agency: Three Eye Sports) contributed with 15 points and 8 assists for the winners. Slovenian guard Klemen Prepelic (191-92) replied with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American center Brian Qvale (210-88, college: Montana, agency: Pensack Sports) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for EWE Baskets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. EWE Baskets' coach Mladen Drijencic tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Phoenix Hagen moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Bayreuth and Walter Tigers. EWE Baskets at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Phoenix Hagen's next round opponent will be league's leader EnBW Ludwigsburg on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
