The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Galatasaray as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Galatasaray defeated 12th ranked Torku Konyaspor in Istanbul 78-65. Torku Konyaspor trailed 44-43 at halftime, rallying from a 27-11 deficit at the end of first quarter to trim the gap. They outrebounded Torku Konyaspor 39-23 including a 24-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Gabonese center Stephane Lasme (203-82, college: Massachusetts) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Serbian forward Vladimir Micov (201-85, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 25 points. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. American guard Clay Tucker (196-80, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) produced 35 points (!!!) and his fellow American import forward Sean Williams (208-86, college: Boston Coll.) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Galatasaray have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Karsiyaka. Torku Konyaspor lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with four games lost. They share the position with Yesilgiresun and Demir IBB. Torku Konyaspor will play next round against Banvit BK trying to get back on the winning streak. Galatasaray will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Yesilgiresun in Giresun.
