Regular Season Round 12: Vytautas - Lietuvos rytas 79-89

An interesting game for Lietuvos rytas (9-2) which played road game in Prienai against one of their biggest challengers Vytautas (7-4). Second ranked Lietuvos rytas managed to get a 10-point victory 89-79. It looked good early as Vytautas took a 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lietuvos rytas had a 31-10 second period charge getting the lead and Vytautas was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-89. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Ksistof Lavrinovic (209-79) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Argentinian point guard Nicolas Laprovittola (193-90) who added 17 points during the contest. Lietuvos rytas' coach Aurimas Jasilionis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was power forward Vaidas Cepukaitis (207-89, agency: Interperformances) with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and forward Laimonas Kisielius (203-85, college: William & Mary) scored 15 points and 7 assists. Four Vytautas players scored in double figures. Lietuvos rytas maintains second position with 9-2 record behind leader Zalgiris. Vytautas at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. Lietuvos rytas will play against Juventus (#4) in Utena in the next round. Vytautas will play on the road against P.Zvaigzdes in Pasvalys and hopes to get back on the winning track.
