Regular Season Round 9: Aabyhoj - Amager 69-81

Bottom-ranked Aabyhoj (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 81-69 loss to fifth ranked Amager (4-4) in Aabyhoj. It looked good early as Aabyhoj took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Amager had a 21-17 second period charge getting the lead and Aabyhoj was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-81. Amager made 23-of-30 charity shots (76.7 percent) during the game, while Aabyhoj only scored six points from the stripe. Amager players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Aabyhoj was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Portia Durrett (185-92, college: Oklahoma) who led her team to a victory with 28 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Melanie Elmgreen (174-92) contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Swingman Enna Pehadzic (178-97) answered with 23 points and swingman Stephanie Mannemar Jensen (180-90) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Aabyhoj. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Amager maintains fifth place with 4-4 record. Aabyhoj at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Amager will play against higher ranked Horsholm (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aabyhoj will play against Lemvig and hopes to get finally their first victory.
