Regular Season Round 14: Furstenfeld - Gussing 82-84

The most exciting game of round 14 in the A Bundesliga took place in Furstenfeld. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (9-5) to first ranked Gussing Knights (13-1) 84-82 in the game for the first place. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 23-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Gussing Knights shot 28 for 39 from the free-throw line, while Furstenfeld Panthers only scored twelve points from the stripe. 28 personal fouls committed by Furstenfeld Panthers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American-Ivorian forward Dane Watts (203-86) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Davonte Lacy (193-93, college: Washington St.) chipped in 17 points. Four Gussing Knights players scored in double figures. Gussing Knights' coach Matthias Zollner used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Croatian Marko Car (188-85) produced 31 points and 8 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and Slovenian forward Dejan Cigoja (205-88) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Defending champion maintains first position with 13-1 record. Furstenfeld Panthers at the other side keep the second place with five games lost. Gussing Knights are looking forward to face Arkadia Lions (#4) in Traiskirchen in the next round. Furstenfeld Panthers will play on the road against Kapfenberg Bulls and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
