Regular Season Round 8: Halychyna - Khortytsia 81-74

There was no surprise in Lviv where 7th ranked Khortytsia (1-4) was defeated by second ranked Halychyna (6-1) 81-74. The hosts were already 12 points ahead at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 24-16 last quarter charge of Khortytsia cut the lead to 81-74 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Khortytsia 55-31 including a 21-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Halychyna players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American center Omar Briggs (201-89, college: Virginia Union) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import guard Larry Hall (190-83, college: W.Oregon) contributed with 7 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The former international center Stanislav Sokur (205-82) replied with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and Nigerian-Russian center Aleksey Adediran (202-82, college: Binghamton) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Khortytsia. Four Khortytsia players scored in double figures. Halychyna have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 6-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Dnipro. Khortytsia lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with four games lost. Halychyna will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Khortytsia will play against the league's leader Dnipro (#1) to get more than just one victory in their record.
