Regular Season Round 12: Zalgiris - Nevezis 82-88

The most surprising game was the first loss of Zalgiris (10-1) in Kaunas on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Nevezis (5-6) 88-82. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Zalgiris. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 26-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Nevezis shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. It was a good game for American-Liberian point guard Saah Nimley (173-93, college: Charleston So.) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 4 assists. Center Mindaugas Kupsas (217-91, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four Nevezis players scored in double figures. International point guard Lukas Lekavicius (180-94) replied with 22 points and 4 assists and the former international Renaldas Seibutis (196-85) added 13 points in the effort for Zalgiris. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nevezis have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Neptunas. Defending champion Zalgiris still keeps top position with one game lost. Nevezis is looking forward to face Siauliai (#7) on the road in the next round. Zalgiris will have a break next round.
