Regular Season Round 17: Suduva-Mantinga - Vytis 85-77

An interesting game for Suduva-Mantinga (14-3) which hosted in Marijampole 3rd placed Vytis (10-7). First ranked Suduva-Mantinga managed to get a 8-point victory 85-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vytis. Vytis trailed by 15 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 26-18 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 77-85 at the end of the game. Suduva-Mantinga dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Vytis' 32. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Suduva-Mantinga made 10 blocks. Forward Donatas Sabeckis (197-92) nailed 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and the former international Aurimas Kieza (202-82, college: Hofstra) accounted for 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks. Forward Karolis Brusokas (200-91) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds and forward Marijus Uzupis (197-93) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Vytis in the defeat. Five Suduva-Mantinga and four Vytis players scored in double figures. Suduva-Mantinga have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-3 record. Loser Vytis keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Palanga and Perlas-MRU. Suduva-Mantinga will meet bottom-ranked Lietkabelis-2 (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Vytis will play against Palanga (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
