Regular Season Round 11: Istanbul DSI - Adanaspor 97-61
Date: December 4, 2015
Bottom-ranked Istanbul DSI managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of two consecutive losses on Friday night. This time they outleveled seventeenth-ranked Adanaspor 97-61. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 36-point difference suggests that Istanbul DSI is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game without a history. Istanbul DSI led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Adanaspor's players. 27 personal fouls committed by Adanaspor helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American forward Mikael Hopkins (206, college: Georgetown) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Derek Williams (185-85, college: SMU) helped adding 19 points and 5 assists. Five Istanbul DSI players scored in double figures. American guard Terrell Stoglin (185-91, college: Maryland) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and point guard Burak Sasmaz (183-91) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Istanbul DSI (2-9) moved-up to seventeenth place. Adanaspor lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with ten games lost. Istanbul DSI are looking forward to face higher ranked Denizli (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Adanaspor will play against Pertevniyal (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
