Regular Season Round 7: Beroe - Levski 91-49

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Beroe (4-3) crushed 6th ranked Levski (2-5) in Stara Zagora 91-49 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Beroe. Levski managed to win second period 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Levski to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Beroe dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Levski's 32. Beroe forced 33 Levski turnovers and outrebounded them 43-26 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Levski's players. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Anna Rimpova (183-82) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). International guard Zornitsa Naydenova (170-89) accounted for 12 points, 9 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. Four Beroe players scored in double figures. Swingman Petya Boyadjieva (178-98) came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Gergana Ivanova (175-99) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Levski in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Beroe maintains fourth place with 4-3 record, which they share with Montana 2003. Levski at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Beroe will meet at home higher ranked Dunav 8806 (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Levski's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sofia to the arena Septemvri.
