Regular Season Round 18: Perlas-MRU - Telsiai 96-97

The most exciting game of round 18 in the NKL took place in Vilnius. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of higher ranked Perlas-MRU (10-8) to eighth ranked Telsiai (9-9) 97-96 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Perlas-MRU. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Tomas Domarkas (183-91) scored 27 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Laurynas Kaveckis (190-90) chipped in 26 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Telsiai players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Tautvydas Pipiras (198-93) with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Tomas Galeckas (184-94) scored 22 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Perlas-MRU's coach Arvydas Gronskis tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Telsiai maintains eighth position with 9-9 record. Perlas-MRU at the other side dropped to the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Telsiai are looking forward to face league's leader Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Perlas-MRU will play on the road against Ezerunas-Karys in Moletai and is hoping to win this game.
