Regular Season Round 11: Pertevniyal - Final Genclik 82-75

Very predictable result in Istanbul where ninth ranked Pertevniyal (6-5) defeated 14th ranked Final Genclik (3-8) 82-75. It looked good early as Final Genclik took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Pertevniyal had a 25-12 second period charge getting the lead and Final Genclik was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-82. They outrebounded Final Genclik 44-33 including 16 on the offensive glass. Pertevniyal players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Berk Demir (203-95) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Swingman Okben Ulubay (200-97) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. American forward Justin Knox (205-89, college: N.Carolina, agency: Two Points) answered with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Alex Gordon (184-85, college: Vanderbilt, agency: HMS) added 20 points and 10 assists in the effort for Final Genclik. Five Pertevniyal and four Final Genclik players scored in double figures. Final Genclik's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pertevniyal moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Final Genclik at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with eight games lost. Pertevniyal's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Adanaspor (#18) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Final Genclik will play against Meliksah (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
