Regular Season Round 13: Lietuvos rytas - Juventus 83-82

The most exciting game of round 13 in the LKL took place in Vilnius. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Juventus (7-6) to second ranked Lietuvos rytas (10-2) 83-82 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-17. But Juventus won second period 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lietuvos rytas made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. International swingman Gediminas Orelikas (199-90) stepped up and scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and international center Arturas Gudaitis (208-93) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Lietuvos rytas' coach Aurimas Jasilionis used entire bench in such tough game. At the losing side power forward Arminas Urbutis (206-86, college: Hofstra, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Spencer Butterfield (190-92, college: Utah St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lietuvos rytas maintains second place with 10-2 record having just -1 point less than leader Zalgiris. Juventus at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Lietuvos rytas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Juventus will play at home against Dzukija (#10) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
