No shocking result in a game in Ponta Delgada where third ranked Uniao Sportiva (8-2) defeated 8th ranked Sporting (4-6) 64-52 on Sunday. Uniao Sportiva made 22-of-23 free shots (95.7 percent) during the game, while Sporting only scored four points from the stripe. Serbian guard Milica Ivanovic (175-88, college: Catawba, agency: LBM Management) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Shaqwedia Wallace (175-89, college: Temple) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Senegalese center Bineta Ndoye (196-93, agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Spanish Arantxa Mallou (181-91) scored 9 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Defending champion maintains third position with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader GDESSA. Newly promoted Sporting dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with Lombos Quinta and CD Torres N.. Uniao Sportiva will meet at home Boa Viagem (#6) in the next round. Sporting will play against the league's leader GDESSA in Barreiro and hope to secure a win.
