Regular Season Round 9: Fener.Ulker - Turk Telekom 96-93

Sixteenth-ranked Turk Telekom (1-7) was very close to win a game against fifth ranked Fenerbahce Ulker (6-3) in Istanbul on Sunday. Fenerbahce Ulker managed to secure only three-point victory 96-93. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Turk Telekom won third quarter 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fenerbahce Ulker made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game. Fenerbahce Ulker outrebounded Turk Telekom 31-17 including 20 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Turk Telekom was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Italian forward Luigi Datome (203-87) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 6 rebounds. FYR Macedonian-Bulgarian power forward Pero Antic (211-82, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. American point guard J'Covan Brown (188-90, college: Texas) answered with 38 points (!!!) (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Michael Jenkins (193-86, college: Winthrop) added 15 points and 5 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) in the effort for Turk Telekom. Five Fenerbahce Ulker and four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Fenerbahce Ulker have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Turk Telekom lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Fenerbahce Ulker's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Istanbul BSB.
