Regular Season Round 9: Mykolaiv - VolinBasket 71-76

VolinBasket's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after eight consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Mykolaiv, where they defeated Mykolaiv (5-6) 76-71 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 37-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. VolinBasket outrebounded Mykolaiv 48-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. Guard Nikola Polyulyak (192-90) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and Ivan Timoschuk accounted for 11 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Four VolinBasket players scored in double figures. VolinBasket's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Power forward Artem Chemyakin (208-84) came up with 20 points and 8 rebounds and guard Oleksandr Shostuha (193-84) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Mykolaiv in the defeat. Newly promoted VolinBasket maintains ninth place with 1-8 record. It was Mykolaiv's third loss in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. VolinBasket will meet at home higher ranked Dynamo (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mykolaiv will play against Bipa Basket in Odessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
