Regular Season Round 16: Kapfenberg - Gussing 101-99

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Gussing Knights (14-2) on the court of seventh ranked Kapfenberg Bulls on Tuesday night. Visitors were edged by Kapfenberg Bulls 101-99. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gussing Knights. The hosts trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 24-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Kapfenberg Bulls dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Gussing Knights' 42. They outrebounded Gussing Knights 38-23 including a 26-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kapfenberg Bulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Joe Dean Shaw (199-87, college: Nevada) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Shawn Ray (194-80, college: N.C.Central) who added 25 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American-Ivorian forward Dane Watts (203-86) responded with 32 points and 9 rebounds and international point guard Thomas Klepeisz (185-91, agency: HMS) scored 22 points and 4 assists. Five Kapfenberg Bulls and four Gussing Knights players scored in double figures. Gussing Knights' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kapfenberg Bulls (7-9) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Arkadia. Defending champion Gussing Knights still keep top position with two games lost. Kapfenberg Bulls is looking forward to face bottom-ranked UBSC Graz (#10) on the road in the next round. Gussing Knights will play against Dukes (#4) and are hoping to win this game.
