Regular Season Round 19: Suduva-Mantinga - Telsiai 93-71

Leader Suduva-Mantinga delivered the sixteenth victory on Friday night. This time they crushed 8th ranked Telsiai (9-10) 93-71 in Marijampole. The game without a history. Suduva-Mantinga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Suduva-Mantinga forced 22 Telsiai turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Suduva-Mantinga made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for the former international Aurimas Kieza (202-82, college: Hofstra) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Swingman Gintautas Matulis (195-86) helped adding 18 points. Suduva-Mantinga's coach Marius Kiltinavicius felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side power forward Mindaugas Norkus (200-85) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Rokas Danielius (183-92) scored 16 points. Four Telsiai players scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Suduva-Mantinga. They maintain first place with 16-3 record. Newly promoted Telsiai keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Suduva-Mantinga will meet Petrochema (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Telsiai will play against Ezerunas-Karys and hope to secure a win.
