Regular Season Round 12: Mamak DSI - Afyon 83-78

There was a small surprise in Ankara where thirteenth ranked Mamak DSI (5-7) beat 10th ranked Afyon (5-7) 83-78 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-22. But Afyon won second period 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Mamak DSI especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Brandon Peterson (204-90, college: Arkansas St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Jason Clark (188-90, college: Georgetown) who added 20 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Gokhan Orcun Tunca (201-80) with 21 points and 5 rebounds and American center David Weaver (207-87, college: Wake Forest) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four Afyon players scored in double figures. Mamak DSI moved-up to tenth place, which they share with defeated Afyon. Mamak DSI will meet Socar Petkim (#14) on the road in the next round. Afyon will play against Gediz (#5) and hope to secure a win.
