There was no surprise when 12th ranked Speyer (2-10) lost on the road to ninth ranked Wuerzburg (5-7) 90-74 on Saturday. Wuerzburg forced 21 Speyer turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Speyer was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward Felix Hoffmann (195-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Christoph Henneberger (188-84) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Wuerzburg players scored in double figures. Wuerzburg's coach Peter Guenschel used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American guard DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: Va.Wesleyan) replied with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and Nigerian forward Onochie Ochie (198-92, college: SE Louisiana) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Speyer. Wuerzburg maintains ninth position in South with 5-7 record. Loser Speyer keeps the twelfth place with ten games lost. Wuerzburg will face higher ranked Elchingen (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Speyer will play against Saarlouis (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
