Date: December 12, 2015
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Balikesir and 9th ranked Akhisar Bld had identical 6-5 record. This time Balikesir used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Akhisar 90-81 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Akhisar Bld won third quarter 26-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Balikesir looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Balikesir made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Mike Davis (205-88, college: Illinois) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks and forward Tufan Onen (202-89) who added 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Hakan Yapar (202-84) with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and American center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Five Balikesir and four Akhisar Bld players scored in double figures. Akhisar Bld's coach Zafer Aktas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Balikesir (7-5) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Pertevniyal and Eskisehir Basket. Loser Akhisar Bld keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Balikesir's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Balikesir to the arena Bandirma Kir..
