Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Lietkabelis-2 (2-17) lost to sixth ranked Zalgiris II (11-9) in Kaunas 61-74. Lietkabelis-2 was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Zalgiris II forced 21 Lietkabelis-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 40-15 including a 15-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Martynas Echodas (204-97) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Martynas Varnas (196-97) who added 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Zalgiris II's coach Tomas Masiulis used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Gediminas Zalalis (205-95) responded with 18 points and 4 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and point guard Gediminas Butkus (184-89) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Zalgiris II maintains sixth position with 11-9 record. Lietkabelis-2 lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 17 games lost. Zalgiris II will play against higher ranked Perlas-MRU (#4) in Vilnius in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lietkabelis-2 will play on the road against Petrochema (#8) in Jonava and hopes to get back on the winning track.
