Very expected game in Samsun where 9th ranked Canik Bld (3-5) was defeated by fourth ranked Istanbul Uni (6-2) 77-69. Istanbul Uni shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 68.4 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by American power forward Elizabeth Williams (190-93, college: Duke) who scored that evening 9 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists and Bosnian-Serbian guard Sasa Cado (178-89) supported her with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Istanbul Uni players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) by Montenegrin power forward Iva Perovanovic (188-83) did not help to save the game for Canik Bld. Latvian center Zane Teilane-Tamane (200-83, college: W.Illinois, agency: LBM Management) added 8 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Istanbul Uni have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Galatasaray and Hatay. Canik Bld at the other side keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Istanbul Uni's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Hatay at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Canik Bld will play against Gelistirenler (#13) and hope to win that game.
