Regular Season Round 8: Galatasaray - Mersin 76-67

The most important game in the last round took place in Istanbul between third ranked Mersin (5-3) and fifth ranked Galatasaray (6-2) on Sunday night. Mersin was defeated by Galatasaray in a tough game on the road 67-76. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Mersin. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The best player for the winners was American guard Jewell Loyd (178-93, college: Notre Dame) who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Isil Alben (170-86, agency: 1x1 Sports) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. American Angel McCoughtry (187-86, college: Louisville) produced 28 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and her fellow American import center Aneika Henry (193-86, college: Florida) added 15 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Five Galatasaray and four Mersin players scored in double figures. Galatasaray have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Istanbul Univ. and Hatay. Mersin at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Fenerbahce. Galatasaray is looking forward to face Botas (#11) in Adana in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mersin will play at home against Besiktas (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
