Regular Season Round 14: Satu Mare - Timisoara 38-106

Bottom-ranked Satu Mare (0-14) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 106-38 loss to ninth ranked Timisoara (4-8) in Satu Mare. They held Satu Mare to an opponent 23.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 58.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Timisoara forced 28 Satu Mare turnovers and outrebounded them 48-31 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Serbian swingman Ivana Grbic (182-91, college: Eckerd) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Serbian Zorica Mitov (188-87) contributed with 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Timisoara players scored in double figures. Timisoara's coach Bogdan Bulj felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Bianca Voica (170-91) replied with 14 points and 6 rebounds and Cristina Badi (180-93) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Satu Mare. Timisoara maintains ninth position with 4-8 record. Satu Mare at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Timisoara will play against higher ranked Alba Iulia (#4) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Satu Mare will play against Galati (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
