Regular Season Round 22: Silute - Suduva-Mantinga 86-79

Round 22 in NKL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Silute where host Silute (10-12) beat league's leader Suduva-Mantinga (18-4) 86-79 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Suduva-Mantinga. They outrebounded Suduva-Mantinga 46-29 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Aurelijus Pukelis (206-94) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Edvinas Alunderis (202-92) chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds. Silute's coach Petras Jonikas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Marius Valukonis (198-88) produced 12 points and 7 rebounds and guard Dovis Bickauskis (188-93) added 11 points and 6 steals respectively for lost side. Four Silute and five Suduva-Mantinga players scored in double figures. Silute maintains ninth position with 10-12 record. Suduva-Mantinga at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Mazeikiai who have the same record. Suduva-Mantinga will play next round against strong Palanga trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Silute will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Zalgiris II in Kaunas.
