Regular Season Round 13: Afyon - Gediz 93-99

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Gediz (9-4) beat 11th ranked Afyon (5-8) in Afyonkarahisar 99-93 on Saturday. Afyon trailed by 19 points after 3 quarters before a 32-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 93-99 at the end of the game. Gediz shot 61.8 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Gediz looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Afyon was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for power forward Orbay Kaya (205-82) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 6 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). American point guard Demontez Stitt (187-89, college: Clemson, agency: HMS) contributed with 24 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Gediz players scored in double figures. American guard Marcus Hall (185-85, college: Colorado) answered with 46 points (!!!) and 7 assists and guard Sertay Gursu (194-87) added 16 points in the effort for Afyon. Gediz moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sakarya BSB. Loser Afyon dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Gediz will face Socar Petkim (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Afyon will play against Sakarya BSB in Sakaraya and hope to win that game.
