Regular Season Round 11: Vasco - Guifoes 67-75

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Guifoes (5-6) beat 4th placed Vasco (5-6) in Porto 75-67 on Saturday. Forward Jose Almeida (199-86) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds. Lithuanian swingman Simonas Januskis (197-94) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Paulo Vieira (-94) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized Angolan forward Paulo Ferreira (187-80) added 21 points in the effort for Vasco. Five Guifoes and four Vasco players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guifoes moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Vasco. Guifoes will face Ginasio (#6) in Figueira da Foz in the next round. Vasco will play on the road against the league's leader Illiabum in Ilhavo and hope to win that game.
