Regular Season Round 9: NSA Delta - Beroe 46-76

Date: December 19, 2015
Bottom-ranked NSA Delta (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 76-46 loss to fifth ranked Beroe (5-3) in Sofia on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Beroe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding NSA Delta to just 5 points in first quarter. Beroe forced 20 NSA Delta turnovers and outrebounded them 44-33 including 18 on the offensive glass. The former international swingman Maria Tsankova (180-88, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 21 points and 4 assists for the winners and the former international forward Anna Rimpova (183-82) chipped in 9 points and 11 rebounds. The best for the losing side was power forward Mirena Dencheva (185-91) with 16 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Maria Svetoslavova (179-93) scored 11 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Beroe moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Montana 2003. NSA Delta at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with nine games lost. Beroe will meet at home higher ranked Neftochimic (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. NSA Delta's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sofia to the arena Septemvri.
