Regular Season Round 15: Timisoara - Alba Iulia 60-80

Very expected game when 9th ranked Timisoara (4-9) was smashed at home by fourth ranked Alba Iulia (9-4) 80-60 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Alba Iulia. Timisoara managed to win third quarter 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Timisoara to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Alba Iulia dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Timisoara's 38. They outrebounded Timisoara 39-22 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Mariah King (188-90, college: E.Illinois) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. Her fellow American import swingman Adrienne Webb (175-90, college: LSU) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Alba Iulia's coach Miroslav Popovic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Brianna Wilson (193-92, college: Mass.-Lowell, agency: PEPI SPORT) came up with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian Zorica Mitov (188-87) added 15 points respectively for Timisoara in the defeat. Alba Iulia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 9-4 record. Loser Timisoara keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. Alba Iulia will meet CSM Targoviste (#5) on the road in the next round. Timisoara will have a break next round.
