Regular Season Round 17: Lietkabelis - Nevezis 96-75

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Panevezys where 8th ranked Nevezis (5-10) was crushed by ninth ranked Lietkabelis (5-10) 96-75 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Lietkabelis led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. The former international forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) stepped up and scored 16 points for the winners and forward Arnas Labuckas (205-87, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 15 points. Four Lietkabelis players scored in double figures. Center Mindaugas Kupsas (217-91, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Ernestas Ezerskis (192-87) scored 8 points and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lietkabelis moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Nevezis. Nevezis lost their fourth game in a row. Lietkabelis will meet at home higher ranked Siauliai (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nevezis will play against Juventus in Utena and hope to secure a win.
