Regular Season Round 12: Dynamo - Mykolaiv 66-63

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Mykolaiv (7-9) was edged by third ranked Dynamo (11-5) in Kyiv 66-63 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and won the game by 3 points. Dynamo dominated on the defensive end, holding Mykolaiv to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Strangely Mykolaiv outrebounded Dynamo 48-24 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dynamo made 7 blocks. It was a good game for the former international Artur Drozdov (199-80, agency: Comsport) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. American guard Kenney Funderburk (193, college: Columbus St.) contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Illya Zhukovskiy (198-93) replied with 8 points and 14 rebounds and forward Oleksandr Tsikaliuk (204-93) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Mykolaiv. Dynamo have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Dynamo maintains third position with 11-5 record having six points less than leader Khimik. Loser Mykolaiv keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Dynamo will face league's leader Khimik in Yuzhny in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mykolaiv will play at home against Zaporizhya (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
