Regular Season Round 14: Gediz - Socar Petkim 94-69

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Gediz (10-4) outscored at home 10th ranked Socar Petkim (5-9) 94-69 on Friday. The game without a history. Gediz led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Gediz had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gediz made 7 blocks. Socar Petkim was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Demontez Stitt (187-89, college: Clemson, agency: HMS) scored 32 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Bosnian-Slovenian center Hasan Rizvic (212-84) chipped in 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Gediz players scored in double figures. American point guard Josh Selby (188-91, college: Kansas, agency: Ali Guney BA) responded with 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and Canadian center Sean Denison (211-85, college: Santa Clara) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Socar Petkim's coach Sahin Atesdagli gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Gediz moved-up to third place, which they share with Sakarya BSB and Denizli. Loser Socar Petkim dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Gediz will face league's second-placed Acibadem in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Socar Petkim will play at home against Sakarya BSB (#5) and hope to win that game.
